Well here are the six river tiles that i have managed to bash out this week. Slightly different from what i had in the initial idea as they finished off wider than planned and straighter but they will do for what i want. In hindsight i could have tidied up the edges as the gloss cote showed the roughness too well!
For these tiles i used the smooth side of a piece of hardboard and spread a liberal coat of Vallejo reflective green mixed with matt earth in brash left to right strokes. This produced a nice dirty brown texture with the majority of the green at the edges and more brown in the centre. sand and flock for the banks prior to finishing off with two thick coats of gloss cote for the liquid sheen look.I have also started work on a bridge to ferry the troops across but that will have to wait till next weekend now : - (
Next on the agenda will be a couple more field tiles and another built up area when i get some more buildings from timecast that is!!

Those terrain tiles look very good.
Do you have DBA? Ive never read the rules but i have HOTT (the fantasy version) and i think theres a simple game in there somewhere, hidden in amongst all the over complicated wording....
Anyway get the Greeks painted.
